Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 has moved its PC release from September 17 to December 3, a delay of 77 days. The three-day early-access period included with the Commander Edition now begins November 30. The announced platform remains PC, with the Standard and Commander editions available for preorder on Steam.

KING Art Games creative director Jan Theysen said the team will use the added time to optimize performance, resolve bugs, and complete final polish. The delay notice did not introduce revised hardware requirements, content cuts, or a price change for either preorder edition.

The post-launch plan is unchanged. Free updates are due to add maps, the returning Crusade mode, more commanders, and a mission editor. Two story expansions are also in development. KING Art Games has not provided dates for those additions, so the December launch date should not be read as a schedule for the roadmap.

Reddit reaction split between accepting the delay and questioning how much roughly three extra months can change. Some commenters referred to their disappointment with Dawn of War 3, while others cited KING Art Games' Iron Harvest when discussing whether the combat will have enough depth. Another group said securing a repair window before launch was preferable to shipping on the September date and patching afterward.

The change places the Commander Edition's early access on November 30, three days before the general release. Players choosing between editions should therefore compare that access window and the included content rather than relying on the old September dates still shown in cached listings or older coverage. Existing preorder holders should check their storefront library for the revised unlock time.
