Classic Bethesda RPGs May Be Getting Remastered
Windows Central is reporting that Iron Galaxy Studios may be the developer tasked with remastering Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas for Microsoft and Bethesda. While neither company has officially confirmed the project, the report adds credibility to months of speculation about a revival of these beloved classic RPGs.
Who Is Iron Galaxy Studios?
Iron Galaxy is a Chicago-based game studio with a strong track record in ports and remasters. The studio co-developed Killer Instinct (2013) and handled the notoriously troubled PC port of Batman: Arkham Knight. Despite some past controversies, Iron Galaxy has extensive experience working with existing game codebases — making them a plausible choice for a remaster project of this scale.
Why These Games?
Fallout 3 (2008) and Fallout: New Vegas (2010) are frequently cited by fans as the series' greatest entries. The Fallout franchise saw a massive resurgence in 2024 following the success of Amazon's Prime Video TV series, with Fallout 4 seeing record concurrent player counts on Steam. A remaster of either or both titles would be a significant commercial opportunity.
Hints from Bethesda
Adding fuel to the speculation, Fallout 4 recently received several free DLC updates with ties to New Vegas and the TV show — moves some fans interpreted as deliberate groundwork for an upcoming announcement. No official confirmation from Microsoft or Bethesda has been made at the time of writing.
