Housemarque Won't Talk About a PC Version of Saros Yet
Original: Saros Director dodges question on whether or not the game will eventually come to PC: "Today we're only talking about Saros and the launch on the PlayStation 5." View original →
r/pcgaming pushed a Game Informer interview that asks a simple question many PC players were already thinking about: if Returnal eventually reached PC, will Saros do the same? Director Gregory Louden did not give a roadmap. Instead, when asked directly, he said the team is only talking about Saros and its launch on PlayStation 5 right now.
That answer is not a formal exclusivity announcement, but the surrounding context makes it more meaningful than a generic PR dodge. Game Informer notes that Returnal launched as a PS5 exclusive in 2021 before arriving on PC in 2023, and it also points to a period when multiple PlayStation first-party releases expanded to PC. In that older pattern, it was easy for players to assume Saros would eventually follow the same path.
The atmosphere around PlayStation strategy now looks different. Game Informer references recent Bloomberg reporting that says Sony is charting a course back toward tighter console exclusivity, specifically naming games such as Ghost of Yōtei and Saros as projects that are not currently planned for PC. Louden's refusal to say more does not confirm Bloomberg on its own, but it does fit that broader strategic picture.
For a PC-focused audience, even a non-answer can still reset expectations. Housemarque is clearly marketing Saros as a PS5 title first, and at this stage it is not trying to preserve the old assumption that a PC version is merely a matter of waiting. If PlayStation had near-term port plans ready to communicate, this would have been an easy moment to start shaping that message. Instead, the studio closed the door on the question for now.
The safest interpretation is narrow. Saros has not been confirmed as a permanent PS5 exclusive, but neither Housemarque nor PlayStation is prepared to discuss a PC version today. Until that changes, PC players probably should not treat a port as part of the near-term launch picture. That is an inference from the current reporting, not an announced timetable, but it is a much more realistic reading than assuming Returnal's path will automatically repeat.
