Handheld gaming hardware is feeling price pressure too

Insider Gaming's April 3, 2026 report says Lenovo has quietly pushed Legion Go 2 pricing sharply higher without a separate formal announcement. The article frames the move as another sign that the handheld gaming segment is starting to absorb the effects of the ongoing component shortage. When the device launched in October 2025, the AMD Ryzen Z2 16GB RAM model was priced at $1,099.99, while the higher-end Ryzen Z2 Extreme 32GB version came in at $1,349.99.

Those figures are no longer current. According to the report, Best Buy now lists the Ryzen Z2 16GB model at $1,499.99, a 36% increase from launch. The bigger jump is on the Ryzen Z2 Extreme 32GB configuration, which has climbed to $1,999.99, up 48%. That is a remarkable move for a device only five months removed from release, and it pushes the top version of Legion Go 2 into a price band that overlaps with premium laptop territory.

The stock situation adds another layer

Insider Gaming also notes that both models are currently listed as unavailable, with no updated guidance on when fresh stock will appear. In other words, the market is looking at higher prices before buyers can even count on broader availability. Lenovo had not responded to Insider Gaming's request for comment at the time of publication, leaving observers to interpret the increase without an official explanation about duration, regional scope, or supply recovery.

The pricing shift also changes how Legion Go 2 sits against nearby alternatives. Insider Gaming points out that the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X remains at $999.99, while Valve's highest-end Steam Deck, the 1TB OLED model, still carries a $649.99 list price even though current stock is limited. The gap makes Legion Go 2 look less like an aggressive enthusiast handheld and more like a premium niche product whose addressable audience may shrink as pricing keeps climbing.
