Microsoft Bundles Copilot, Agent 365, and Security into the Frontier Suite

Microsoft used a Mar 9, 2026 announcement to reposition its enterprise AI stack around a new bundle called Microsoft 365 E7: The Frontier Suite. The company said the package reaches general availability on May 1 for $99 per user and combines Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365, Microsoft Entra Suite, and advanced Defender, Intune and Purview security capabilities.

The same announcement also set May 1 general availability for Agent 365 at $15 per user, introduced Wave 3 of Microsoft 365 Copilot, and highlighted that Claude and next-gen OpenAI models are available in Copilot through Microsoft's model-diverse approach. Microsoft argues that enterprises no longer want isolated AI experiments; they want AI systems grounded in organizational context and governed with the same controls they apply to employees and apps.

Microsoft paired the launch with adoption metrics intended to show the market is moving from pilots to scaled deployment. The company said paid Copilot seats grew more than 160% year over year, daily active usage increased tenfold, deployments above 35,000 seats tripled year over year, and 90% of the Fortune 500 now use Copilot. Those figures are Microsoft's own claims, but they help explain why the company is emphasizing governance and commercial packaging as much as model capability.

For enterprise buyers, the significance is straightforward: Microsoft is trying to make Copilot, multi-model access, agent management and security procurement happen in one decision. That could speed deployment for organizations already standardized on the Microsoft stack, while also tightening Microsoft's position as a managed distribution layer for both OpenAI and Anthropic models.
