OpenAI launched the OpenAI Deployment Company (DeployCo) on May 11, a Delaware LLC structured as a $10 billion pre-money joint venture. More than $4 billion in initial capital has been committed by a consortium of 19 investment firms, consultancies, and systems integrators led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield as co-lead founding partners.

Structure and Ownership

DeployCo is majority-owned and controlled by OpenAI, giving customers a unified experience whether they work with OpenAI, DeployCo, or both. OpenAI is contributing up to $1.5 billion of its own capital — $500 million upfront plus a $1 billion option — and has guaranteed private equity investors a 17.5% annual return over five years. Goldman Sachs, SoftBank, Warburg Pincus, and BBVA round out the financial syndicate, while Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey join on the consulting side.

Tomoro Acquisition and Forward-Deployed Engineers

DeployCo immediately acquired Tomoro, a London-based AI consulting firm founded in 2023. The acquisition brings approximately 150 experienced Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and Deployment Specialists from day one. FDEs embed directly inside client organizations to redesign infrastructure and critical workflows around AI, turning capability into durable operational impact.

Strategic Context

OpenAI is effectively entering the enterprise AI deployment market previously dominated by firms like Palantir and Accenture — shifting from pure model provider to a full-stack enterprise AI partner that both builds the intelligence and deploys it. Full details are in the official OpenAI announcement.
