Steam Controller reservations now show September 2026, December 2026, or 2027 order windows

Steam Controller reservation holders can now see an estimated order window on the product page. Valve's Steam Hardware update says each account will show one of three windows based on reservation timing: by September 2026, by December 2026, or in 2027.
The practical change is queue visibility. Valve says initial demand after launch was higher than expected, and that reservations help reduce customer confusion while giving the company a clearer way to plan shipments. The company also says it has no plan to stop making the Steam Controller.
When a customer reaches the front of the queue, Valve will send an email offering the chance to order and buy the controller. The order window is limited: customers have 72 hours to complete the purchase before they are removed from the list and the next person gets the slot. New customers can still reserve, but will see the expected window before pressing the reservation button.
The r/Games thread and Steam comments focused on how far out some estimates land. Users compared May 8 and May 9 reservation timestamps, with early reservations often reporting September and later ones seeing December or 2027. Original notice: Steam Hardware.
