KotakuはThe Quiet Thingsを、Silver Script Gamesによるautobiographical narrative gameと説明している。Studio founderのAlyx Jonesが経験したmental health issues、childhood abuse、traumaを扱う作品だ。Jonesによれば、ceremony向けのtrailerは準備されていたが、event前夜のphone call後にpulledされた。さらに変更を加える提案もしたが、removalは覆らなかったという。

BAFTAの説明

Kotaku updateでBAFTAは、この判断はevent audienceを考慮したもので、十分なwarningを出せる状況ではなかったと説明した。BAFTAはdifficult subjectsを扱うgamesをsupportしているとも述べた。公式の位置づけは、gameのsubject matter自体を拒否したのではなく、event-specific compliance decisionだったというものだ。
