Microsoft launched Xbox Backward Compatibility on PC in early release on July 22, 2026. The first four original Xbox games are BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. The rollout covers Windows 11 PCs and supported handhelds, including ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X.

Each game is available to purchase on PC and is included with all Xbox Game Pass plans. Players who already own a digital console license for one of the four titles can carry that license to PC or handheld. Microsoft frames the program as part of a broader preservation effort for older Xbox games across console, cloud, PC, and handheld devices.

The PC versions add VSync, up to 4x resolution upscaling, anisotropic filtering, enhanced anti-aliasing, fullscreen and windowed modes, plus language and audio settings. Achievements are planned later this year for select original Xbox games, including the four games in the initial preview.

The minimum spec is Windows 11, 8GB RAM, a GTX 950, Radeon RX 550, Intel UHD 770, or Arc A310-class GPU, and a four-core CPU. Reddit discussion focused less on the four launch titles and more on whether Microsoft will expand the catalog quickly enough for preservation to matter. Source: Xbox Wire.
