Facepunch says s&box will open on Steam on April 28, 2026 for $20. The same update closes the long-running Developer Preview and says only 40,000 of roughly 800,000 preview users will keep access.

Facepunch says s&box creators have already been paid $500,000 to date. The studio also expanded its public finance dashboard and is still targeting an April 28 Steam launch for the platform.

A top r/gamedev post highlights Facepunch’s new Valve agreement, which is intended to let creators export S&box projects and publish them on Steam without paying Facepunch a fee.
