Rest of World의 분석에 따르면, 2025년 전 세계에서 판매된 13,000~18,000대의 휴머노이드 로봇 중 약 90%를 중국 기업이 차지했다. 상위 판매 기업 중 6곳이 모두 중국 회사다.

중국의 경쟁 우위
중국의 압도적 우위는 정책 지원, 공공 투자, 성숙한 공급망, AI 소프트웨어·하드웨어 기술 발전이 결합된 결과다. 중국 정부는 2021년 14차 5개년 계획에서 휴머노이드 로봇을 핵심 산업 돌파 분야로 지정하고 국가적 지원을 아끼지 않았다.
Tesla의 현실
Tesla는 2025년 Optimus 5,000대 판매 목표를 세웠으나 약 150대에 그쳤다. Elon Musk는 "중국은 AI에 매우 뛰어나고, 제조에 매우 뛰어나며, Tesla에게 가장 강력한 경쟁자가 될 것"이라 인정하면서도 Optimus 일반 판매를 2027년 말까지 개시할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
시장 전망
글로벌 휴머노이드 로봇 시장은 2035년 380억 달러, 2050년 5조 달러 규모로 성장할 것으로 전망된다.
