Anthropic、Vercept買収でClaudeのcomputer useを強化

Anthropicが買収したもの

Anthropicは2026年2月25日、Claudeのcomputer use capabilityを高めるためVerceptを買収したと発表した。Anthropicがいうcomputer useとは、Claudeが単にtextを返すのではなく、人がkeyboardの前で行うようにlive applicationの中で複数段階の操作を実行できる能力を指す。

Anthropicによれば、Verceptは人が日常的に使うsoftwareの中でperceptionとinteractionの難題を解くことを軸に作られてきた。共同創業者のKiana Ehsani、Luca Weihs、Ross Girshickを含むVercept teamはAnthropicに加わり、Verceptのexternal productは今後数週間で終了に向かうという。

Anthropicはこの買収を自社モデルの進展とも直接結び付けている。同社はClaude Sonnet 4.6がwidely used computer-use evaluationであるOSWorldで、late 2024のunder 15%から発表時点で72.5%まで上昇したと説明した。さらに、複雑なspreadsheetの操作やbrowser tabをまたぐweb form入力のような作業ではhuman-level performanceに近づいているとしている。

なぜ重要か

computer useはagent市場でもっとも競争が激しい領域の一つだ。AIがscreenshotを理解し、software interfaceを移動し、tabやtoolをまたいでactionを完了できるようになると、enterprise back office、support operation、反復的なknowledge work、きれいなAPIを持たないlegacy systemでも実用性が一気に高まる。

今回の買収は、frontier labがinterface layerそのものを中核capabilityとみなし始めていることを示す。AnthropicはVerceptをtargeted capability acquisitionの最新例として位置付けた。perception、safer action、reasoningが強化されれば、Claudeは人間向けに指示を書く存在から、softwareの中で実際に仕事を進めるagentへと一段深く踏み込む可能性がある。
