According to the post, the initial device set includes Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S26 series, with rollout starting in the U.S. and Korea. The interaction model is simple: long-press the power button, ask Gemini to complete a task, and Gemini coordinates the app-level steps in the background.
Google's examples include booking a ride home and reordering a previous meal on DoorDash. The strategic shift is important: instead of answering questions only, the assistant is moving into execution orchestration across app flows. Safety and privacy controls
Google framed the release around three safeguards. First is Control: automation begins with explicit user command and stops when the task is complete. Second is Transparency: users can track progress through notifications and interrupt if needed. Third is Access: Gemini runs automation in a secure virtual window and can access only limited apps involved in the task, not unrestricted device-wide controls.
The beta is also intentionally scoped. Availability is limited to select apps in food, grocery, and rideshare categories, and compatibility varies by device and region. The disclosure note on the page adds 18+ requirements and identifies supported Galaxy and Pixel device variants. This indicates Google is choosing constrained deployment conditions to tune reliability and guardrails before broadening coverage.
