GPT-Live Expands ChatGPT Voice to Edu and Enterprise Plans

Voice Moves Into Workspaces

GPT-Live is no longer only a consumer voice upgrade. OpenAI’s official account posted on July 27, 2026 that GPT-Live in ChatGPT Voice is now available globally for Edu, Business, and Enterprise plans, and the post drew roughly 370,000 views inside the 48-hour window.

"GPT-Live in ChatGPT Voice is now available to Edu, Business, and Enterprise plans globally."

OpenAI’s GPT-Live launch page describes the model as a full-duplex voice system: it can listen and speak at the same time, handle interruptions more naturally, and delegate harder work to frontier models in the background. The company also says more than 150 million people use ChatGPT Voice and Dictation each week, which gives the enterprise rollout a large existing usage base rather than a cold start.

The business details matter. OpenAI’s Enterprise and Edu release notes describe two experiences: Voice in Chat for natural real-time conversation, and Voice in Work and Codex for coordinating tasks across agents, conversations, and projects from the desktop app. The same notes list 5 credits per minute for Voice in Chat on flexible pricing and about 6 credits per minute for Voice in Work and Codex in credit-based Enterprise workspaces. The Business changelog similarly lists one included hour of Voice in Chat, then 5 credits per minute, with Work and Codex voice at about 6 credits per minute.

The next watch item is adoption by admins, not raw model quality. Workspace owners must decide whether voice belongs in governed work settings, and the per-minute credit model will shape whether it is used for brief coordination or long-running agent supervision. Source tweet: OpenAI on X.
