Grok Imagine 1.5 Preview enters API with 15-second video generation

Visual generation becomes a developer surface
The material change is API access. On June 3, the Grok account posted that Grok Imagine 1.5 Preview is available and told developers to “Try it today in the API.” The source post is on X, and it includes a short video demo.
The linked xAI page describes Grok Imagine as an API for image and video generation, editing, and restyling. It lists text-to-video and image-to-video support, video clips up to 15 seconds, image generation up to 10 images per request at up to 2K resolution, and pricing from $0.02 per image. The examples show both xAI SDK usage and OpenAI-compatible client patterns, which matters for teams that already route model calls through OpenAI-style APIs.
The Grok and xAI accounts have been using X to surface model and API availability across text, voice, image, and video. This post is short, but FxTwitter showed it within the 48-hour window with more than 31 million views and an attached demo. The signal is that Grok Imagine is no longer only a consumer-facing creative tool; it is being packaged for developers building product demos, ads, virtual try-on flows, and product placement systems.
xAI’s page also cites an Artificial Analysis text-to-video ranking where Grok Imagine is listed first, ahead of several named video models. That claim will need independent scrutiny under real workloads. The next things to watch are latency, moderation behavior, rights and usage terms, and whether the API can sustain the quality shown in demos when users generate many 15-second clips at production scale.
