Game Developer said those totals were reached over very different timelines: eight years for A Way Out, five years for It Takes Two, and roughly one year for Split Fiction. That pace matters because Split Fiction launched on March 6, 2025 and had already sold 1 million copies within 48 hours, making it Hazelight’s fastest-selling game to date.

Hazelight has built its identity around tightly authored co-op design rather than chasing the broader live-service model. Crossing 50 million total sales suggests the studio has turned that focus into a durable commercial lane, not just a one-off success from It Takes Two. Game Developer also noted that Hazelight is already working on a fourth, still-unannounced project. In a separate GDC Festival of Gaming 2026 session cited by the outlet, level designer Hannes Gille discussed how Split Fiction’s final-stage mechanic was intentionally saved for the finale instead of becoming the entire core loop. That detail matters because it shows Hazelight is still iterating on its formula instead of simply repeating earlier hits.

In practical terms, Hazelight now heads into its next production cycle with a much larger installed audience and stronger proof that co-op can keep compounding over time instead of peaking only at launch.
