About SpaceX Colossus 1

Colossus 1 is SpaceX's AI supercomputer facility located in Memphis, Tennessee. Under this agreement, Anthropic gains access to all of Colossus 1's compute capacity. The two companies have also expressed mutual interest in developing multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity in space.

Broader Infrastructure Strategy

This SpaceX deal is part of Anthropic's larger compute expansion. The company has also arranged an up to 5 gigawatt agreement with Amazon, a 5 GW deal with Google and Broadcom, a $30 billion Azure capacity partnership with Microsoft and NVIDIA, and a $50 billion American AI infrastructure investment with Fluidstack.

Significance

Notably, Elon Musk's SpaceX is now providing compute power for one of OpenAI's main competitors, despite Musk's ongoing legal disputes with OpenAI. The announcement arrives ahead of Anthropic's anticipated June 2026 IPO and delivers immediate throughput gains for Claude Code developers and enterprise customers running demanding agentic workflows.
