체스·바둑을 인간 기보 없이 독학으로 마스터한 AlphaZero의 공동 창시자 데이비드 실버가 새 AI 스타트업 Ineffable Intelligence를 설립했다. 창업 수개월 만에 Sequoia Capital과 Lightspeed Venture Partners가 주도하고, Index Ventures·Google·Nvidia가 참여한 11억 달러 시드 라운드를 마쳤다. 밸류에이션은 51억 달러로, 유럽 역사상 최대 규모의 시드 라운드다.

'슈퍼러너'의 목표: 인간 데이터 없는 지식 발갬
Ineffable의 핵심 명제는 인간이 만든 데이터에 의존하지 않고 강화학습만으로 지식을 발견하는 슈퍼러너를 구축하는 것이다. 실버는 RL이 초인공지능(ASI) 달성의 핵심 경로라고 확신한다. AlphaZero가 체스와 바둑에서 증명한 원리를 열린 세계로 확장하는 시도다. 그는 이 연구를 "다윈의 발견에 필적하는 과학적 혁신"이라고 표현했다.
