Guild Wars Reforged is moving to phones this summer, and ArenaNet attached real numbers to the plan. In its April 28 announcement, the studio said the mobile version will launch on iOS and Android, with Android preregistration already live. New mobile players will be able to access the full Prophecies campaign for free through an ad-supported client, while each additional campaign will be sold separately for $6.99.

The monetization breakdown goes further than most platform announcements. ArenaNet says Eye of the North will cost $9.99 on mobile and the Bonus Mission Pack will cost $5.99. Existing ArenaNet account holders get the better deal: they can sign in on mobile and continue their characters across PC, Steam Deck, and mobile with no ads, no extra charge, and no split server population. Testing begins soon in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the Philippines, while a broader launch is planned for this summer.

The Reddit thread was immediately positive, but it was not blind hype. One top comment framed the update as proof that ArenaNet has been shipping quickly this year, while another focused on the control question and wondered whether successful touch controls could open the door to console releases later. A separate cluster of replies went straight to account continuity, asking whether players would really be able to keep the same characters and progression across platforms. ArenaNet’s post answers most of that: ArenaNet accounts carry over cleanly, but Mobile IDs still cannot be linked to Steam accounts.

This is a meaningful platform move because it keeps the original Guild Wars intact instead of rebuilding it into a stripped-down mobile side project. Same servers, shared guilds, and character carryover matter more than the marketing phrase around mobile access. The remaining test is interface quality. If the new UI and control setup hold up in actual play, Guild Wars Reforged could end up as one of the rare older MMOs that expands to mobile without giving up the structure that made the PC version worth preserving.
