Since its August 2023 launch, Baldur's Gate 3 has barely left the top 5 most-played games on Steam Deck — a 33-month streak that no other current-generation title can match.

Valve says Steam Deck 2 remains in development, but there is still no release window. The company also says RAM and shipping constraints are still limiting Steam Deck supply in some regions.

Valve has added new beta Steamworks reporting tools for Steam Deck Verified games, letting developers see 30-day average framerate charts and opt-in user survey results. The survey appears after at least 10 minutes of play, and Valve says variance data and Playable-game support are planned next.

Valve's official Steam Deck post says SteamOS 3.8.0 Preview adds initial support for upcoming Steam Machine hardware alongside KDE Plasma 6.4.3, Linux kernel 6.16, and broader compatibility for third-party handhelds.

A February 17, 2026 PC Gamer report cites Valve’s wording on the Steam Deck page: OLED models may be intermittently out of stock in some regions due to memory and storage shortages, with broader hardware timelines also under pressure.
