GOG Galaxy Linux support enters active exploration after specialist hire

GOG Galaxy for Linux does not have a release date, but GOG says work toward official support has moved into active exploration. GamingOnLinux reported on July 28 that GOG joint CEO Krzysztof Papliński said the company now has its Linux specialist on board and is investing time in how to approach Galaxy support.
The practical gap is familiar to PC players on Linux and SteamOS. GOG already sells games with Linux builds through its web store and direct downloads, but the GOG Galaxy client has never shipped on Linux. That leaves players managing libraries through web installers or third-party tools such as Heroic Games Launcher.
GOG’s statement stops short of a product announcement. The company did not give a timeline, technical approach, beta window, or supported distributions. The concrete change is narrower: Linux support for Galaxy is now an area with staffing and internal work behind it, after GOG previously described Linux as a major frontier.
For players, the main question is whether Steam Deck and Linux desktop users will eventually manage DRM-free libraries through an official client instead of workarounds. With no timeline attached, this is best read as preparation for support rather than a release announcement.
