The funding values Runway at $5.3 billion, up 77% from its $3 billion valuation in April 2025.
World Model GWM-1: Beyond Video
Runway is moving beyond simple video generation to focus on world models. Its GWM-1, launched in December 2025:
- Generates 3D virtual environments from user prompts
- Enables robot testing and neural network training simulations
- Renders physical phenomena like momentum and fluid dynamics
Gen-4.5: Latest Video Model
Runway's latest video generation model Gen-4.5 excels at rendering physical phenomena, though some limitations remain with object consistency between frames.
Targeting $300M ARR
As of April 2025, Runway was targeting $300 million in annualized recurring revenue. The new funding will go toward model development, addressing rendering limitations, hiring developers, and expanding go-to-market staff.
Runway competes with OpenAI's Sora, ByteDance's Seedance, and Google's Veo in the rapidly growing AI video generation market.
