Hacker News focused less on the Copilot plan mechanics and more on what the change reveals: long-running coding agents are turning flat AI subscriptions into a compute-cost problem.

Ollama said on March 26, 2026 that VS Code now integrates with Ollama via GitHub Copilot. Ollama docs say VS Code 1.113+, GitHub Copilot Chat 0.41.0+, and Ollama v0.18.3+ let users load local or cloud Ollama models into the Copilot model picker, with GitHub Copilot Free sufficient for custom model selection.

GitHub said on March 10, 2026 that GitHub Copilot, VS Code, and Figma now form a continuous loop through the bidirectional Figma MCP server. GitHub’s March 6 changelog says users can pull design context into code and send rendered UI back to Figma as editable frames.

GitHub announced that Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.6 is now generally available in GitHub Copilot. Early testing shows excellent performance for agentic coding and search operations in VS Code and Copilot CLI.
